On Sunday 2nd April we will have a balboa workshop taught by the fabulous Dan Guest and Nikki Durrant, followed by the live band Ukulele Uff Trio at Balboa Beckons, our social tea dance.

This is multi-level workshop and suitable for everyone who has done at least a term of balboa lessons upwards. The workshop will focus on throwouts, a classic balboa move. Whether you’re a relative beginner or more experienced and ready for some new challenges, you’ll find something to lift your dancing to the next level as well as putting a big smile on your face.

Dan was instrumental in the revival of the dance both in the UK and in Europe, having learned from many of the original “old timer” balboa dancers. Dan’s teaching focuses on the techniques and body mechanics that make dancing feel natural and effortless at all tempos. He has a relaxed and light-hearted teaching style with a knack for simplifying and explaining complex ideas. Nikki is a performer, teacher, and choreographer. Nikki is honoured and privileged to share the knowledge that she has acquired of balboa with others who share her passion for dance.

Our live band is the stunning Ukelele Uff Trio. If you haven’t heard them before (or danced to their music) you are in for a real treat! Extraordinarily nimble and skilful playing, combined with superb musicality and heart.
